In 2008 breast cancer hit an estimated 180,000 American women and killed 40,000. Out of every eight American women, one will develop breast cancer at some point in her life and, if the cancer has spread, despite our best current therapies, the majority of these breast cancer patients will die. There clearly is an urgent and pressing need for improved therapy for this and other cancers.
The use of tumor vaccines for treatment of human cancer holds great promise and is the subject of intense clinical research. In contrast to the inoculations we’ve all had for prevention of childhood illness, many expect tumor vaccines to become the next new breakthrough therapy. Furthermore, unlike chemotherapy or other current therapies, vaccines are expected to be much less toxic, more selective, and more likely to prevent subsequent recurrence of the cancer.
Dr. Wisemans’ vaccine, SV-BR-GEV, is a genetically-engineered vaccine, which already has had preliminary FDA approved (Phase I) testing in human patients and already has shown benefit. To the best of our knowledge, no other competing program or company has yet to publish observations comparable to some of the responses we have reported.
Wiseman Cancer Research has special resources, excellent experienced personnel and has already received FDA regulatory approval for additional human clinical investigation.
